Promoting LGBTQ+ Equity at Alkermes

As part of our commitment to cultivating a workplace that prioritizes inclusion and belonging across the organization, Alkermes’ five employee resource groups (ERGs) enhance our culture by recognizing and celebrating the diversity of our organization. Pride@Work – our ERG for LGBTQ+ colleagues and their allies – advocates for inclusive practices, policies and benefits while working to ensure that Alkermes is an active community partner and advocate.

We asked our Pride@Work executive sponsors why they’ve stepped up to support the LGBTQ+ community in this way:

Tom Harvey, Senior Vice President, IT and Chief Information Officer, believes in the power of visibility and representation to impact people’s lives. “At Alkermes we feel strongly that everyone deserves a workplace that values their unique backgrounds, lived experiences and skillsets,” he said. “The efforts led by Pride@Work underscore our commitment to ensuring our people know they are safe, welcome and encouraged to be their authentic selves – and that we are stronger and better for it.”

Anne Giovanoni, Senior Vice President, Corporate Counsel and Secretary, holds openness, connection, advocacy and taking pride in each other as guiding principles. “Pride@Work gives colleagues a dedicated forum for meaningful support and dialogue that is actively shaping our company around the core tenets of inclusion and equity,” she said. “Our team’s diversity is a source of immense pride for Alkermes, and I feel lucky to be part of this employee-led initiative that’s making a lasting, inspiring impact on our people and culture. As allies of the LGBTQ+ community, we have a responsibility to foster a welcoming workplace by encouraging and demonstrating the importance of equality, fairness, acceptance and mutual respect for all.”

This month, members of Pride@Work and employees across Alkermes will take part in a number of activities to celebrate Pride, including participating in Pride Parades in our local Boston and Cincinnati communities.
