Demetra J. Barlas, EHS Specialist
B.S. Environmental Engineering - Suffolk University
Pursuing Master's in Public Health
After earning my bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, I wanted to work for a company that understood and appreciated the environmental, health, and safety issues the world faces today. As an EHS Specialist at Alkermes, I have had the chance to be directly involved in all aspects of the pipeline: research, development, and manufacturing. Alkermes considers EHS issues to be of major importance to the organization and takes EHS into account in all its business decisions. I chose to work at Alkermes because it knows that protecting people and the environment is an essential part of running a successful business.

Bill Lippke
Clinical Manufacturing
I joined Alkermes because I needed a job and it has turned into so much more; I have found an exciting career. The idea that we can affect people so dramatically with the products we are currently working on keeps us going at the demanding pace we maintain in Clinical Manufacturing. In my role as manager of the Clinical Manufacturing Department at the Wilmington, Ohio site, I oversee our three functions: clinical formulation, sublotting of material for filling in Cambridge, and hand filling for current clinical trials. My main motivation lies in providing the highest quality product possible to our partners.

Joe McCurdy
Formulation Manager - Wilmington, Ohio
Associates Degree - Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis
I joined Alkermes with 14 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry and have found Alkermes to be very challenging and rewarding. In my role as a Bulk Line manager, I ensure that all manufacturing systems, processes, equipment, and final products meet or exceed regulatory requirements. As a manager, I work hands-on, meaning I involve all the operators in group decision making, help on the floor when an extra pair of hands is needed, and ensure the production schedules are met. My success is measured by the great pride each of my operators take in their work and it shows in their unprecedented metrics and accomplishments.

Jessica Stitt
Senior Financial Analyst - Cambridge, Mass
MBA - Simmons School of Management
After completing my MBA at Simmons School of Management, I joined Alkermes to be a part of an emerging industry which would offer many new challenges and opportunities. My role as a business partner requires that I work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization. Alkermes' unique corporate culture helps me to be successful in my job. We're small enough that it's easy to interact with all levels of the organization, including senior management, but large enough that there's never a shortage of projects to work on. I enjoy the opportunity to work in such a dynamic environment.

Mirela Goranova
Sr. QA Associate - Wilmington, Ohio
BS and Master's Degree - National and World Economical University in Sofia, Bulgaria
As a Senior Quality Associate in the QA department, I am responsible for supporting the External Operations group. We help to ensure that our products not only meet quality standards, but also adhere to our timeline. My solid understanding of the pharmaceutical regulations and guidelines are an assurance that these goals are met and that the patients will be receiving a high quality drug product. Within one year the company made me stronger in my field and increased my positive outlook on a company that cares about its products, employees and customers. Alkermes' atmosphere leads to a positive work environment, which encourages hard work, departmental interaction, career growth and a focus on the major goal of a high quality, profitable and safe product.
