Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
In collaboration with Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., we have developed extenatide once weekly, a Medisorb® formulation of BYETTA® (exenatide) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. This long-acting release formulation has the potential to provide important therapeutic benefits in a once-weekly dosing regimen.
- Alkermes is responsible for developing potential long-acting formulations of exenatide.
- Amylin is responsible for conducting clinical trials, securing regulatory approvals, manufacturing extenatide once weekly for commercial sale, and for the sales and marketing of any products resulting from the collaboration.
- Alkermes will receive royalty payments on net product sales.
- Amylin has entered a collaboration agreement with Eli Lilly and Company for the development and commercialization of exenatide, including certain rights to exenatide once weekly.
Cephalon, Inc.
We are collaborating with Cephalon, Inc. on the development and commercialization of VIVITROL® (naltrexone for extended-release injectable suspension) in the United States.
- Alkermes is responsible for manufacturing and clinical development of VIVITROL.
- Cephalon has primary responsibility for the marketing and sale of VIVITROL in the U.S., and Alkermes augments this sales effort.
Janssen-Cilag
We are collaborating with Janssen-Cilag (Janssen), a division of Johnson & Johnson, to market RISPERDAL® CONSTA® [(risperidone) long-acting injection], a long-acting injection of the oral medicine RISPERDAL® (risperidone) for the treatment of schizophrenia. RISPERDAL CONSTA uses our Medisorb technology to deliver and maintain therapeutic medication levels in the body through just one injection every two weeks.
- Janssen markets RISPERDAL CONSTA in over 55 countries worldwide, including the U.S. and major European markets.
- Alkermes is responsible for manufacturing RISPERDAL CONSTA.
